Default Bidder Did Not Pay For This WM C Stahl ?

This http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem...temID=11081625 was auctioned a few weeks ago and iirc the final bid was $630+, I will try to look up the winning bid. However, its back...Bidder probably backed out on the deal which I thought was way over bid.

There is at least 1/2 a chance that that mandolin is Larson built. The photos don't reveal very much unfortunately other than it is in pretty bad shape. There are enough hobbyists out there that look at beat up stuff like that that will pay a premium for what would be a challenging project. That is the only explanation I can think of for the high prices that some basket cases fetch. Sometimes a beat up Gibson A will sell for more than a similar one in pretty good shape listed at the same time on ebay.

Searched and found the original final bid: http://www.shopgoodwill.org/auctions...-10233169.html

Looks like the final bid was $652.00. That sounds like a lot for the old guy.

Even if it is Larson built that's a lot of money for that mandolin.

Well, you can sit in the living room and talk to your wife or you can hide away in your basement and fix your old Stahl. Could be money well spent!

$652 begins to sound good when you put it that way...

This looks more realistic at auction end: $401
