Glad to have the advertising rant in this case. I do admit to a certain lusting for an Edwina for the concert series. We have a lot of duos coming up, and having a few different "voices" to chose from can be nice. Phillip, I'll email you directly to find out more...

Thanks for the reply Phillip. I don't see it as advertising, more like a rebuttal. We can be a pretty tough crowd about some stuff, but you will also find that we're pretty civil thanks to the mods. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on what develops, especially if Charles gets one. I'm sure he'll be really good about giving a fair review.

The thought of finding a LDC that has good feedback rejection is pretty tempting for us who have the other MAS( mic acquisition syndrome)

I'm on it, Tony. I'll probably take the plunge next week when work calms down...

Used Edwina from Caleb Klauder Foghorn Stringband this weekend to do a show in an old theater. Did one set with it and then listened to a set by the Foghorn string band. The mic is great. She is all Caleb uses with the string band and they always sound like they are playing right in front of you without a mic. Would highly reccomend it.

So Edwina was the only mic on stage for the whole band Ken? Were there monitors in stage?

You go Charles, lookin' fwd to your experience with Edwina.

Thanks, Ken. I can't tell you how many times I hear this from folks that see Foghorn live.

Charlie, I look forward to hearing from you.

mandroid, - "Soyuz-Victorian" - I LOVE it. Much better than "steampunk" (which is a description I rarely use, BTW)

Oh, and for the record: do NOT chuck your Neumanns. You may want them for recording.

Mics from a future imagined from the past! Wonder what they sound like? If you hit the right button do you go into an HG Wells style time travel and 'invent' bluegrass? Anyone called Bill yet to buy one?

This is all getting very Michael J Fox...

Philip, I agree, it's great that you've replied here. I enjoy the design aesthetic, and I appreciate that you've worked out the acoustic rejection and so on. I generally hate the sounds of cheap Chinese condensor mics, and I'm pretty skeptical about condensor mics
in general, if only because they're revered because they're perceived as being louder than other mics. So besides acoustic musicians, bicyclists, and steampunk folks, you'll have a market among those who are ready to move up from the popular ~$100 condensors. Best wishes, thanks for a great new look in mics, and welcome to the Cafe!

Philip, thanks for giving us the scoop on your mics. They look really cool.

Here's a video of some the mics in action and sounding good.

Caleb Klauder of (Leghorn?) Foghorn String Band and Reeb Williams (?) Someone posted that video on FaceButt, and then I noticed the mics.

I agree, at $500 they should sound great.

FaceButt, I got a good belly laugh on that one. I've learned to put down my drink when I read Old Sausage's post. I've made a mess with some of those.
