Camp Bluegrass 2012 -- Levelland, Texas
I'm burning up highway tomorrow headed for Levelland and Camp Bluegrass 2012, George Wilson riding shotgun. The focus of the camp this year is, of course, Bill Monroe's 100th birthday, and Joe Carr has lined up a fantastic bunch. Roland White, Jim Moratto, Robert Bowlin, Bill Evans, Jon Weisberger, Steve Smith, Tim May, and many more, all great.
This is my second year at Camp Bluegrass. Last year I took the mandolin course, but this year I'm in the vocal class with instructor Dede Weyland. I went to the vocal jams last year and was very impressed, so I signed up.
The classes are very informative and useful, but the real fun is jamming at night. I hardly slept last year's week at camp. Pickin' until the wee-est hours. I met folks there last year that I've kept up with, and I sure look forward to seeing them again this year.
PsychoMando, you gonna be there with your bad-a## Weber? Anyone else? I'll be wearing a Mandolin Cafe hat at the jams, so say hey.
