Yeah Rico, I saw that wish I'd have known a sell like that was coming about, would have love to have gotten an F5L...LOL...maybe even an A5L to go with it, oh well I always miss the good stuff.

Are you saying Gibson isn't making mandolins or just that the Mandolin Store is no longer carrying them?

Maybe the Mandolin Store doesn't want to carry Gibson any more because they are competition to their Lafferty brand?

Their web site still has the Gibson logo on it though, so maybe they just sold out.

A recently purchased the F-9 Custom Gibson mandolin from The Mandolin Store (full gloss finish, sunburst back and sides, top bound in ivory...basically an F5G without the flowerpot and prettier finish on the back and sides). I'll be writing a full review in the coming days...but suffice it to say, its as good or better than any mandolin I've ever owned...including my Collings MT2v (both great but different). David Harvey and crew are turning out some absolutely exceptional Gibson mandolins at this time. I previously owned a 2008 F5G and this new Custom F-9 puts it to absolute shame! Its is right there with the all Gibson Master Models I've played. I doubt seriously Dennis is planning on discontinuing the Gibson line...as it represents one the best values available in the $3,000 $6,000 price range

I'm sure we'll get an explanation soon but if they're not handling Gibson anymore something big must have happened between them. I hope it's just as minor bump and they'll be back online soon.

Guys - Gibsons are not gone - we are working on a new advertising for Gibson mandolins / instruments - please be patient..........."the sky is not falling? We still have plenty in stock and many more on the way. I was at the factory Friday and there were 2 getting ready to ship but those are all ready sold. There are a MM, Sam Bush Fern, Sam Bush, Varnish Fern (this one will be a while), and several of our customs there in production - expect those to ship in 30 days. As a matter of fact. most of the mandolins being built there are headed our way. We are the number 1 seller of new Gibson mandolins and I'm working hard to make sure we stay that way.

We are bringing in Gibson acoustic guitars and expanding our partnership with Gibson. I did not want to announce this just yet but since this thread could get out of hand easily felt it was necessary. I was going to make an announcement in our monthly newsletter about this as soon as we actually had product in hand and the website in order. Earlier this year I announced we were going to reduce our guitar assortment and expand mandolin family instruments. We are expanding mandolas, Octaves, and mandocellos but it takes some time to get them ins tock. As for Gibson guitars, we felt that supporting the Gibson corporation was very important in light of some of the pressures they have had to face recently. We want to help them so that they can continue to send us the great sounding mandolins we have been getting from them.

What you saw with the $.0.00 were used ones - I was considering putting actual retails for the used Gibsons we had had in the past - they were not in stock - That was not up very long............I'm amazed how people look at things while we are doing site maintenance and see these sort of things. Gibson requests that we not show retail on used instruments and that was part of why I was monkeying around with it. The world moves at the speed of light these days with modern technology.

Just be patient please..............we're doing our best to maintain our high level of service and keep the website as current as humanly possible.

Perhaps they cannot advertise on the Web but still do carry the mandolins? I think I heard something about not putting pricing on the web but you could still call for the info.

I forgot to mention that Jam Masters are gone from production. Its very unlikely that they will ever be produced again. In addition, it appears that the A9 / F9 may wind up the same way..........at least for now Supplies and man power to build mandolins is limited. The F5G will be the entry level Gibson model for the forseeable future. Also, the nut width on the Goldrush is now 1 1/8. If I can help answer questions about Gibson mandolins, don't hesitate to give me a call or send me an email.
