Default Steve Perry & Gianna's will be slow for a while, patience please!

In addition to moving our shop again, with necessity of rebuilding my old building here, Gianna and I have both been injured and will be slow to get work done. I think I recall some pieces coming in from members here. Please be patient. I will be in the house and able to answer phone, or will be at my law office, or at hospital spending time with Gianna. I cannot stand for long, so my instrument work will be done slowly.

Gianna will be out of action entirely for several days, then will likely be unable to pack for shipping out for some time. I may be able to get help with that. I don't know the recovery time, but she will require plates or pins in her lower leg bones to repair a compound fracture.

Motorcycle. Breakfast run. Dog. Freeze in roadway. Low speed. Wearing armor.

Thank you for your understanding. If you'd like to do framing, wiring, and insulation, you would be very welcome here!

Here's hoping you and Gianna have a speedy recovery.

I've had full ankle reconstruction after a nasty break and know it is a tough, unpleasant road, what with pins and plates and screws. If you've any questions about what to perhaps expect, feel free to PM me.

Best of luck to you all and here is hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

Stephen, glad to hear you were wearing protective wear. I keep telling my wife, " you don't dress for the ride , you dress for the crash". I wish you both a speedy recovery.

I recall that dog related crash too, Mike. I wish you well with your recoveries and new ventures.

Thanks all. She is likely in surgery either now or shortly. I'm getting around OK. An extended ice this, then ice that session worked well! Using a hiking cane.

Dressing for the crash is certainly helpful. I had a chance to examine my gear. Riding boot leather not even 1/2 way through, but a lot of leather gone. That pair is toast. Pants can hardly tell were used, except the cordura nylon wore through at the upper corners of the knee armor. Nylon jacket mainly got tattered a little here and there. Can't tell the elbow hit - no damage - but my elbow and forearm tell me otherwise. Shoulder really hit, cordura layers all the way through in several spots, down to the armor. Shoulder stiff, but likely OK. Didn't look over Gianna's gear. She was in leather (a great way to dress her anyway). Did tap her helmet, so I presume it's toast. Had her fancy boot cut off.

I sure recommend gear all the time. This occurred just up our street.

Sorry to hear this, and best wishes to you both for a speedy recovery.

I came off a bike once myself about 15 years ago when up a street in town, a rather silly lady stepped out between a row of parked cars with two children right in front of her without looking... I had to swerve hard, avoiding them (just) and ended up on the road in front of oncoming traffic. I was wearing full kit too, and it undoubtedly saved me from far more serious injuries than I ended up with. I changed from two wheels to four not long after that.

Goodness! God speed on the recovery. I crashed my motorcycle back in 1968 -- same thing an inattentive driver -- but lived to tell about it. Sickening, helpless feeling -- I hope it turns out well for you and your wife.

Sorry to hear this, but glad things weren't as bad as they could so easily have been. Hope you are both up and at it and back up to speed soon.

I wish Gianna a speedy recovery. I really feel for you guys. Last year was one of the most difficult times in my life. I tore my knee up pretty good and am still not back to normal. It was just before our move to Reno. What a nightmare.

Motorcycles, bicycles and running a small business are a dangerous combination!

Now the other important question. Is the bike ok?

The injury patterns are very illustrative of the effect of good gear. No mark with 3 layers of leather, slight bruising with 2 layers, purple with impact abrasion with one layer.

Main damage to bike is dented muffler fairing piece from Gianna's boot heel. It came through fine!
