You wait a moment and think better of it before you post--usually.

... you go to a closed thread only after it has been locked down and read every post, just to satisfy some dark curiosity or schadenfreude ...

... you see a new thread about picks/strings/body style/sound hole shape/brands/[name your poison] and just sigh or shake your head or roll your eyes and move on.

... you spend more time involved in threads that have precious little to do with mandolins per se than those delving into the minutiae - and really appreciate the break from the routine.

... you appreciate being a member of a forum that provides you with the opportunity to seem world-weary and worldly-wise ...

Hey, wait a second, I am #1! You can ignore me if you like but I haven't exactly been sitting still and am 1800+ posts over #2. Besides does it count for anything that Mike and Jamie are moderators and they have to be on the forum for their job? Well, unless I suddenly get a life -- altogether possible, of course -- I am still here. I feel like Roger Federer or Rafa Nadal.

Yeah, well, see what happens by Wimbledon time. Might be the year for a dark horse, like Andy Murray.

    Not!

I shudder to think what would happen if someone decided to post just to increase his post count.

Uh-oh... hmmmm... I may have to take a hint from Click and Clack and retire from my position here while I am still on top. I will be discussing that with my people and will report back in due time.

when you read a post in the classifieds for a Daley mandolin from Adam Steffey and don't get the least bit excited.
Of course I wouldn't know because I've only been a member now for a few months and about messed my britches when
    I read that earlier.

When a request for a 'complete' listing of the 'best' f style mandos less than $500 with information on who sells them for the best price ("and hurry, I need this by tomorrow") doesn't phase you or prompt you write a rude reply.

OK ... sorry. You know you've been a Cafe member for a long time when the fact that Garber is the #1 poster doesn't even register with you. "Well duh," you say. "Everybody knows that."
