    Default Elkhorn #18

Been lurking for a while, but I guess I'll make it official and post a few photos of my new-to-me Elkhorn #18. I got it a couple of weeks ago and have yet to play anything that makes me second guess my purchase. I'm really loving the deep woody tone of this one... Cedar top, Koa sides and back.

Very nice! I really like the idea of that combination of Koa and Cedar.

Very nice! You're right, Robb makes some great mandolins. I'm loving my Elkhorn F-5 #20 and still miss my old A-5 #3 that I had to sell. Enjoy yours!

I remember old #18, great mandolin, exceptionally powerful out front, very deep and woody. I'm glad it found a good home, it's a super mandolin. Rob does make a kick ass mandolin, enjoy!

It is truly a wonderful instrument thus far. The other mandolins in the closet just don't hold a candle to what I pull out of er'...

I ran into Robb at the Pagosa Springs festival Saturday and we were talking about #18 which I had the pleasure of playing while PJ had it. That's a good one--really rich tone. Robb didn't have any mandolins with him--he was just at the festival for the day and not camping which was disappointing. But it was good to see him and visit with him again.

The Koa and Cedar f-5 really is a great sounding mandolin. I've done three of them to date and they have all sounded really good! I just recently finished up the third one and am attaching a couple of images so you all can have a look; enjoy! Click image for larger version.
