Absotively and posilutely! Look what he has to work with. So if you can't dazzle 'em with the instrument's brilliance, baffle 'em with your - ah, well, let's say folderol. Keep in mind he is sweetening the deal by throwing in the OSSGB (original soft shell gig bag). And as he says, it still has time to "open up" some more. Gets an A for effort and an A+ for creativity.![]()

How wonderfully appropriate that the pic of the instrument features it artfully positioned in the bed of a pick-up truck.

A goooooood piece of advertising, I too give it an A+ for creativity!
I never fail at anything, I just succeed at doing things that never work!
Eastman MD815 Left handed....
Shame that this guy selling a Backpacker and the guy looking for one on the Classifieds aren't a little closer in price.
the price seems a little steep, especially since you can get one new on mandoweb for $239 but hey I give the guy kudos for the funny ad

I like this one:

although the seller needs to say which model it is and show a picture....

He also needs to be a good bit more upbeat and pare down the sniping. Just a bit.
I haven't looked at the classifieds much before he last couple weeks. Maybe I should do so more. Never thought of this as an area for entertainment. These are working on that level.![]()

Actually, it reads like the hyperbole of Stan Jay at Mandolin Brothers. Stan is the master of the syrupy sales pitch.

Well, now! Wonder why no one's ever thought of doing that before? That marketing approach will never catch on, not a chance. Thanks for trying, anyway.
But seriously, there is something intriguing about the curve of the upper bout. And at least this pic is in focus, unlike #3 - and I, for one, am grateful.![]()

Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.
Never heard of a rack mount tenor until I saw that one.![]()

Well, it didn't sell, after all - got only one offer, which was rejected. But it has been relisted. So perhaps this is just the thing for someone who is stumped for something to get for Father's Day, or maybe wants something like this for Father's Day, or something ...

Selling on ebay - making a profit through a clever description, I'd love to see this applied to a musical instrument.
Well yeah, I'm sure similar verbosity has been used, in keeping with the characteristics of the items. I mean, some ads get pretty flowery in their descriptions, which may need a good bit of deciphering. But it would be very cool if these guys or someone similarly bent who is into mandolins applied this approach to an old beater or some such. Now, if only mandolins could be described as "rad to the power of sick" or do skids that can last for two weeks, they would be flying out of the ebay listings!
