$3K? Nah, I routinely see them for half of that.

Seller will never get $3K for this guitar. Certainly not in today's market.

I've seen TG-50's advertized by some pretty important vintage instrument houses in $2,000 - 2,500 -- as near as I can tell they don't seem sell at that price though. I agree that around $1,500 would be good (fair) price for it. It is in beautiful shape looks like.

Trouble is with those TG-50's (IMHO) is those four strings do not provide enough energy to really drive that big L-5 sound board. I think the smaller TG-1 is a better match and sounds better too.

Update: Wow it sold for $2,500! More than I would pay for it -- looked to be in near mint condition though.

    Well, the listing has ended -- somebody decided it's worth $2500 . . .

Whenever this kind of thing happens with a nice tenor guitar, it makes me wonder...Neko Case?

Even stranger, the same(?) guitar, or at least the same photos, appear on this listing. Something odd is going on here.

    Buyer bailed? Can that happen.
(e-bay scares me from both a buying and a selling standpoint. God bless the Cafe Classifieds!)

People change their minds all the time and until the money is in the sellers' hand the deal cannot be considered done. The problem is not with ebay, but the problem is with people, both buyers and sellers. You can complain to ebay if you feel you have been cheated but in fact there is little even they can do.

I often buy at auction and there is always a risk if you don't do your homework and sometimes even if you do. Some folks call that "Life".

You could also think, Ani DiFranco. Thought she had a steel tenor, too ...
