I'm going to listen to some sides where he solos for the millionth time, and most certainly react as always: "How does he do that?", or "Where does all that swing and great feeling come from?"

I can't tell you how he does it, but here's a neurological tidbit that might help if you want to research the question:

A couple years back Gene Gimble related that his brother had had some tissue removed from behind his ear, which left a sort of divot in his head. He then claimed that since that operation he has lost the ability to play Orange Blossom Special!
