Below is a photo I took of the back of Marty Stuart's F5 during the intermission of a performance of his in Kent, Ohio in October of 2010.

The red label maker tape on the back of the peghead, is Doc's signature in braille.

Way back when, I took my first Doc Watson album home one weekend to play for my Dad. It was a good move. Music helped us connect again after the usual (required?) late/post adolescent declaration of independence. Years later when he died, three albums were laid out by the turntable... Jim Reeves, Jimmie Rodgers and Doc Watson.

Thanks, Dave and Ed. I was imagining the dots poked into the surface wih a ball point pen. Yeah, the thought of folks signing instruments with the wrong implement just gives me the shivers, however cool having some of them may be.

I was in Boone NC last week, and stopped for this photo of the statue of Doc. Lot of love for him here.
