RIP Doc Watson - A true American Classic and a giant of Americana music.

He will be missed. He has been part of my musical life for nigh on 50 years. I remember trying to learn Black Mountain Rag way back when. A tear.

Learning to play Deep River Blues was a high point in my life. I can't tell all the hours I have spent listening to him. Thanks for everything Doc, rest in peace.

One of the most important American musicians ever. Rest In Peace, Doc. I wish I would have seen him play more than the single time I saw him in 2007. So sad....

What a special life for Doc, even with the tragedy of losing Merle!
I'll never forget that night Grisman called me from the studio to help Doc go up & down the stairs.
It was only the Engineer upstairs, David & Doc........and I was the fly on the wall. They played those
duet tunes he used to play with Monroe. Watson's Blues etc. An all night session. Doc told me he
was the first pro to invite Grisman up on stage to jam......along with many other stories. I had never
helped a blind person before but he just grabbed my arm & off we went. These are like lifetime great
memories for me.
I must have seen him over a dozen times over the years......always special.......Doc was so pure it was like magic! May Peace be with you Doc!
I miss you Doc.

An American icon. I missed MerleFest for the first time in > 15 years, and have many great memories of seeing him perform and meeting him in person, since I first saw him > 40 years ago. He truly revolutionized the approach to Bluegrass guitar, laying the foundation for the great guitarists that we have today, and was so much more than just a flat-picking fool. A lot of deep soul in that man.
RIP Doc. This version of Shady Grove with Doc & David Holt s one of my favourites.

When it rains, it pours. I was lucky to see Doc several years ago at the Birchmere in Virginia. It truly was a night to remember: Wonderful music, wonderful wit, wonderful time.
RIP Doc.
As I watched Doc this year at Merlefest I had a bad feeling that it might be the last time. He's always been one of my favorites. R.I.P. Doc, I miss you already.
There's only been one like him.
RIP.
Doc, We miss you but thanks for giving us so much great music!
The music scene in the United States has lost a true giant today. Rest in peace.
