Kidding aside, a full 13 7/8 scale mandolin isn't for everyone, and it's not unheard of to customise a scale length to suit hand size etc. Swapping between scales might take a moment to adjust.
Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.
