    Default Backordered Kentucky

I ordered a Kentucky KM-1500 from First Quality, but they have been on backorder since december. Dont have a clue to when it will come in but this is a major step up from my morgan monroe. If anybody has any inside info or have a newer KM-1500 they want to rave about, it may help alleviate the anticipation...or make it worse!

There's a 1500 in stock at The Mandolin Store in varnish. NFI, great folks to deal with.

I received a 1500 about 4 months from Harry and Jeanie West about 4 months ago and it is incredible. It's a 2010 with a lovely sound and great feel. I've definitely had a lot of compliments from people on the sound. Even without a proper set up it sounded great.. And after the set up I couldn't stop giggling like a little school girl : ) it's everything I was hoping for and more.. Congratulations.. Definitely worth the wait. Brings me back to the feeling I had when it first arrived

I saw the Varnished one at the mandolin store Don, that would have been great, but its $700 more and Someone else is purchasing this for me so I will be content with the standard First Quality version. Paul, how noticable is the radius and body depth than a standard mandolin? Hows the fit and finish?

The body seems similar to me.. But very nice feel.. A little deeper.. The radius is only slight but I could definitely tell the difference.. The frets are smaller which I found to like a lot.. The fit and finish is gorgeous... It has beautiful sides, back, and neck.. And the sound is lovely. I can't say enough how nice it is. You'll love it. When I get on my computer I'll upload a couple of photos to get you pumped for the new arrival

Just an update if anybody is still interested. I canceled the order at first quality, just tired of waiting and they have no idea when they'll get them. I ordered the varnished model from the mandolin store
and Bryan was very nice and helpful and I know it on its way! Varnish.....cool!

Backordering is one of the reasons I've pretty much stopped stocking mandolins. I don't have any interest in putting lots of cash into inventory anyway. One supplier would suddenly send a backorder from a year before without notice. That's not fair or reasonable.

    On the Kentucky KM900, 1000, 1500 - I'm very impressed!!
