    Default 1918 Gibson A1

    Hi all,

    Just joined the cafe - first post!

    Here's a pic of my mandolin;

    Nothing amazingly rare or special; 1918 Gibson A1. But I like it! Mainly use it for trad....

    I have an Embergher as well but no pics at present....maybe upload one at a later date...

    Actually, that's a very lovely instrument. Hadn't seen the .ie extension before, but you've got a great instrument for traditional Irish music.

    Thanks very much for the compliments. It is a lovely instrument - plays and sounds very well.

    For a collector, it wouldn't be that great an instrument, as it's had a fair amount of work done on it, including re varnish, pickup installed, pick guard missing. Plus there's slight dip in the table. But for playing, it's great.

    Photo was taken for a project called Pipeup by a Dublin based photographer Johnny Savage. He also took photos of my other instruments (banjo & fiddle), which are up on the website also.
