Sitting in the AMAZING historic Tampa Theatre waiting for Cornell to come on! Never seen or heard of him pulling out a mandolin like Eddie Vedder, but one can hope! :D

Talk about instruments...What an absolutely incredible voice Chris Cornell possesses!
I would love to see him perform live.
I bet that voice live just makes the hairs on the back of one's neck stand-up!
Enjoy the show!, and please post a quick review here if you can.

I've seen him live, and he can hit the same wild vocal notes live as on record. There was talk on the cafe back in 2004-2005 about both him and Les Claypool playing mandolin....it could happen.

Words cannot express....not that I was surprised, but that man sounds BETTER live than on record.....his lows made me think of asking him to sing to me at my deathbed (this is what I actually thought during the show, even though he's 16 years older than me)......and his famous highs blow through your brain and erase everything else, what an AMAZING show. No mando though. Despite a stagefull of guitars he pretty much stuck to one great-sounding Martin.
BUT.....my ear did catch some mandolin (confirmed in liner notes but apparently not played by Cornell) on "Follow My Way" on his 1st solo album Euphoria Morning. Thinking when I get recording again I might attempt an acoustic "Fell On Black Days" with guitar/mandolin, plus it's one of his more singable songs for us mortals.

I got a couple of solo Vedder gigs in November, pretty sure I'll get a mandolin fix on "Rise" at those!

Sounds like it was a great show, Phil!
Thanks for the review.
