I had seen that some time ago or others of their videos. I assume the sauna was not really fired up or else all those instruments would have imploded. Thanks for posting!

I've seen a few of theirs, including this one. Those guys are hot! (Someone was gonna say it; I wanted to be first.) Also it's nice to know there is more going on in Finnish music than Sibelius. About the easiest clues on Jeopardy when it comes to music are anything that mention Finland (Sibelius) or Norway (Grieg). But of course Niles is much more clued-in than the Jeopardy clue crew.

    How about this band: Värttinä?

I remember one of their big hits was featured on the kids show Arthur usually aired on PBS back when my kids were little.

OK, interesting, entertaining, but not as humorous as those Porkka Playboys. It occurs to me, if I ever get on Jeopardy, and a subject comes up about music from Scandinavia, when it comes to Finland I am going to think of them instead of Sibelius, and when it comes to Norway I am going to think of Katzenjammer instead of Grieg. And I will go down in flames. So it goes.

Very nice that JPP video. I like the tractors and the appearance by the band at the end as well as the gut bump dance. I am not sure of the meaning but I suppose it is a parody of Kaursimäki films?

I see the last (of four) of these pastels in private hands is up for auction today at Sotheby's. It is estimated to go for $80 million. Need I post the image again or will that one suffice for both purposes?

PS: I know, Munch was Norwegian. And I think the tractor video was Danish. I'm trying, I really am ...

I knew the Finns were just a little bit odd but now I know they're funny. The screaming men's choir was a good example to be contrasted by Loituma's campy fun song Ievan's Polkka.

My favorite Finnish rock band, Eppu Normaali. Really like the Knopfler-esque lead guitar.

Oh my - actual MC (at 1:17). How did that get in here?

I liked that clip from Eppu Normaali, the wiki says they are the best-selling band in Finland. Definitely Knopfleresque. Not too surprising - this is from 1985, the year of "Brothers in Arms."

BTW, isn't Jorma Kaukonen of Finnish ancestry? He is one funny guy.
