Default Chris Thile's Mandolin Concerto - Now Online!

My friends and former colleagues at New York Public Radio have made Thile's performance with the Orpheus chamber orchestra at Carnegie Hall available for listening online, via WQXR.

After hearing and reading reviews for so long, it's great that everyone can now hear the March 24, 2012 performance. It's a great program from beginning to end. Starting with the Bernstein arrangement by Paul Chihara, to Thile's concerto which starts at about 27:30, followed by Chris's great solo encores (at around 57:00) of Gillian Welch's 'Dear Someone' and the gigue from the Bach partita for violin No 2., to Clint Needham's world premiere and ending with Appalachian Spring.

There's another thread from the days before and after the concert here.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm glad to hear this again, saw it in birmingham two years ago.

Thanks for posting the link Brad. Also, nice to see Chihara represented as an arranger. I was actually his graduate teaching assistant for a music theory class when I was a grad student way back when...Nice guy.
