This was my first mando. Little tone to speak of, but it played with fantastic action and intonation all the way up the neck. A great starter instrument.

The listing may be closed, but other sellers have similar offers. This listing looks to offer the best value of those prepared to ship to Australia.

Jason's recommendation suggests you're likely to get a playable instrument. Unfortunately it's made out of plywood, and its always going to be short of tone as a consequence. Because you live in Oz, you have to factor in the $69 shipping plus any import fees in deciding whether it represents 'value' to you. Even at $300, these instruments struggle to find buyers, and you are likely to take a big hit if you ever want to sell it on. The seller I linked to offers a 14 day approval period, but the two way shipping hit you'd take makes this pretty meaningless, as would be the "Lifetime Warranty through Oscar Schmidt".

As has been suggested in another thread, you'll get better value and far better build and sound quality buying a low end Kentucky from an Aussie dealer. If the look of an F style is that much more important to you than what it sound like, this particular seller is inviting offers, so there may be room to get the price down $20 or so. But recognise that when the instrument you're sent no longer suits, you'll be facing a significant loss.

For $300 there are better options out there. Kentucky km150 or Rover rm. Add a few $$ and it opens up the choices even more.

It appears that Al has seen sense and gone for a KM-162. A good choice, I doubt he'll be disappointed.
