Default super glue repairs tortise picks

Maybe this was posted before, but I couldn't find it. My "discovery" is that super glue will glue something besides fingers. Turns out it will also repair a tortise shell pick.

I handed one to a friend who started checking out the flex, and promptly broke it in half.

A little super glue and the pick is back at work.

I guess it makes sense in that tortise shell is kinda like fingernails, which are kinda like skin. Anyway that's my high tech theory for why it worked.

So don't throw them away if you ever break one.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Yep. I superglued a broken red bear several years ago. It's still in one piece. It really surprised me that it worked since the contact surfaces for gluing were so small.

Also, a little cover of superglue on the parts of the pick where your fingers touch will prevent absorption of sweat on the fingers and prevent the pick from bending like a potato chip.

Yes, after having broken one of my own Red Bear picks while doodling in my pocket (thought it was a 30 cent Martin pick), I've watched in horror as friends flex my Red Bears or Blue chips. Moral of the story, Don't let friends flex your picks!

I know that now. And the guy that broke mine is a little guy. He's a rancher though, so must have strong fingers.

The was told my TS pick was made from two vintage pickguards sandwiched together using superglue to create a thicker base material from which the final picks were cut and shaped.
