Wow, that's a tough one. The Highlands Ranch Scottish Games is the first week in August this year, instead of the second.. Last year, the Colorado Mandolin Festival was the first week in August, haven't seen whether they're doing it again.
In September, you've got the Long's Peak Festival in Estes Park, Edgewater Celtic Festival and Spanish Peak Celtic Festival. If there are any in between, I'm not aware of it.
The last two weeks of August are dead !!!!
I looked up where Red Lodge is located and you are in a dead area for festivals for sure. The only thing I can think of is the Pasture Pickin' at Libby Mt, (see website) a fair drive from you but I know people that come from the Flathead of MT area to it. Pasture Pickin happens twice per year , last weekend in May to first weekend in June and 2nd weekend in August to 3rd weekend in August. It is a campout (RV's etc) and just lots of jamming (no festival) and fun. It is invitation only so call Dale and Dorothy if you're interested (great people). Lots of pickers of all levels. There are motels etc in Libby (about 6 miles away as well. I'm located in BC Canada and go down every year to both and have a ball.
