If legit, $3000 would have been a good price.

You think this is legit? That picture doesn't really tell me anything, except that it looks like a gold-top(?) finish. I don't recall ever seeing one like this.

Gibson did make one; I remember the gold-top. I think it was at The Mandolin Store. It was a one-off, I think. There were several in different colors, maybe a batch of experiments from Gibson just to test the waters?

The pissed off wife ripped a stock picture from here. No experience with personally, but generally I think is is presumed not legit unless proven to be legit. Might be a good buy for someone if it works out for someone that likes that kind of thing.
Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.

Dave Harvey showed me (us) pictures of this GoldTop F-5G last year at Kamp Kaufman. I think it's a beauty but would want to play it prior to making an offer. BTW - Jim, I really like Simon Mayor's version of "Waynesboro" from New Celtic Mandolin. Great playing by a great player!!

Can't really tell from the pix if it's legit or not. I don't trust CL

If interested, email and ask for more photos. Even cell photos. I have purchased instruments and other stuff off our local Craigslist and gotten some great deals [safely too]. Sold a couple things too, without issue. Do it safely and you're good.

If in good shape, that's a great price IMO.

Before anyone gets worked up over the CL pic the seller posted, here are pics sent to me by the seller upon my request. Obviously not the same mandolin as the pic on CL and the seller describes as an F-9. (NFI on my part whatsoever - I just found the ad searching CL and thought the ad language was funny.)
