    Hi
I just bought(on ebay)a Mid-missouri M-0? The mandolin is labled M-11 and the seller was told it really is an M-O at the time he bought it. I would like to make sure it is not one of the smaller(ex. mm-8)models or something else of lesser value before paying. So if you have a mid-missouri M-O, M-11 or any other full size mandolin maybe you could help me out.
WHAT WOULD BE A BIG HELP IS MEASUREMENTS OF THE THICKNESS OF THE BODY, TOP TO BOTTOM LENGTH, WIDTH OF MANDOLIN AT ITS WIDEST POINT.
According to the serial # it would be an M-O.
HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP,
Thanks in advance, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS

My M-4 is 24" long (tip of headstock to endpin), 9 3/4" wide at its widest, and the body is 2" deep - measurments are +/- 1/32 or so.

M-0,,1,2,3,4,11 will all be the same size. The M-11 is all mahogany (deep red). I believe that the others will all have a different colored wood on the top versus the back and sides.

The M-11 is the All mahogany model, like Alan says. The top wood on all the others is spruce and will be almost white in colour. The mahogany top will be the same colour as the sides, back and neck.

Yes, same color, not always as red as the one in the picture. I have a M-11, and it's more yellowish (but not white like spruce).

I have difficulty believing it's a M-0 if it's labelled M-11, especially because the M-11 is more expensive than the M-0. The "Mini-Mo" is a different beast. The neck is attached like a guitar's, and i think you can see 3 screws in the back, where the neck joins the body.

With the M-11, i think the key in telling it apart from the others is that the front, sides and back are made of the same wood. All others use more than one kind of wood.

Hi, Thanks all. The measurements match the m-4 ones posted. I paid already so I hope Im happy, seller seems very honest. I will try to add pics, but they do not seem to be showing in preview mode. It was being sold as a M-O.

I don't think that's an M-11, because the top seems to be of a different wood than the back and sides.

All Mid-Mos are supposedly very good instruments anyway, it's mostly a difference on the sound, with the mahogamy supposedly having a darker sound.

I think it is an M-O also which is OK because price paid was reflecting the M-O. The label being wrong was a concern to me.

Sorry wrong pic. One of my concerns was it being mislabeled

That label looks a little different from the label in my mandolin. I can't really read the number in the picture you sent. It does look like there's a vertical stick that could be a number "1", but could it be a "funny" zero instead?

Since you already bought it, i'm sure the mystery will be solved soon. It may be worth giving Mid-Mo a call, after you get the instrument. They've been hard to reach recently due to moving problems, but hopefully they'll have that figured out eventually.

It's an M-0, not an M-11, because in addition to the wood on the top looking like spruce, it appears to have rosewood fretboard, headstock veneer and bridge. Those things would be ebony on an M-11. They just got the label wrong.

Another point is that the basic M-0 does not have binding on the top, M-11 does, so this is an M-0.
