I played one a few days ago. It is the only The Loar I have seen in person. It was clunky, and just looked and felt "off" compared to a higher quality instrument. I don't know where it falls in terms of their line up but the tone was about the same as the average all plywood A style instrument for about $200. I admit I am used to playing much nicer mandolins but I can't say this was anything other than a cheap starter with too high a price tag due to having a scroll.
