What would make you happy ?
What would make you happy ?
Is it even possible to live with only one mandolin?
"Put your hands to the wood
Touch the music put there by the summer sun and wind
The rhythms of the rain, locked within the rings
And let your fingers find The Music in the Wood."
Joe Grant and Al Parrish (chorus from The Music in the Wood)
Well if you must, my L&H model A asymetrical blond two pointer with a scroll on the headstock. I am in love with it and play it a whole lot, and it does everything with an accuracy and authority and emotional range like nothing else I have played.
If I could own only one mandolin, knowing that nobody else could own more than one mandolin would bring me a little satisfaction. I'm shallow like that.

My Spira. (I'm playing with those that I have.) If it could be anything, I would say a Brentrup 3 Pointer blacktop oval hole set up perfectly for me. But, I'm very happy with my Spira.

There are two things to aim at in life: first, to get what you want; and, after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second. Logan Pearsall Smith, 1865 - 1946

I already own the perfect mandolin for my needs, a Mix A4. Booming sound, top quality construction and a built-in Schertler C-Dyn pick-up are all superb, but the winning ticket is the total imperviousness to climatic conditions. Living where temperatures very commonly top 40 degrees C and humidity is frequently north of 90 percent, I don't have to even consider what such conditions do the mandolin, let alone worry about them.

Frankly, I would have Bill Monroe's old mandolin - I mean, if we can choose anything. If it's got to be one I actually own then I'll just keep my 2012 Silverangel A style, since it's the only one I've wanted to play since I got it. Just not sure of the rules here...
My Heiden F or Ellis A special...both are killer sounding instruments...both make me happy
.....either would too!

Weber F-5 'Fern'.
Lebeda F-5 "Special".
Stelling Bellflower BANJO
Tokai - 'Tele-alike'.
Ellis DeLuxe "A" style.
If it were possible, I also would want Bill Monroes mandolin, imagine the spirit that lives within.
Dignity, Respect and Love, for who they are, not what they are.
I've got it - My Smart F5

Like some others, I already have my dream; a 1993 Randy Wood F 5. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Well, now, we can't ALL have Bill Monroe's mandolin. A fight to the death for it seems fair...
I wouldn't mind checking out Tim O'Brien's A...
Jordan Ramsey's Bush.
