Wonderful. I was over there in that very area back in 1978. Man, makes we want to go back.

    Yes, enjoyed it very much.

So much in fact that I've ordered Mary Staunton's Circle Of Friends CD. Irish music the way I like it.

One of the best bits of accompanyment to a jig - Alec Finn on bouzouki track 1 - a killer!

    Hanky please, somebody.

I was there, some 24 years ago.
Played in sessions in O'Connor's and McDermot's.
Played "The Ladies' Pantalettes" in an independent hostel washroom when a girl walked in in her underwear.
Went to Inis Oirr but saw nothing - lying on the beach for hours, while my stomach tried to forget the rough crossing and looked forward to the return trip; the next day, I met the woman who is my wife today.

There's a place soaked in memories. Thanks Kevin for posting!

Yes, a really good musician is Brendan, he played on the Cold Mountain soundtrack - I found this snppet from an interview on line

    Falls Church, Va.:

Did you do all the fiddling for your character in "Cold Mountain"?

    Brendan Gleeson:

Yes and no. I played all the tunes and sang all the songs but at times needed help to maintain the audience's presence in the theater. In other words, they have a soundtrack but the fiddling is mine.

We went to Nashville for a week and laid a soundtrack before we began shooting the film so I would play the fiddle with the soundtrack in the background.

A great fellow indeed, a thrill to meet and have a tune with.

Great, great music, and lovely pictures too. Would Mr McLeod happen to know the name of the tune which begins at around 4minutes 50seconds?
