There are 5 packages of strings for the price listed. Anybody use light strings instead of mediums or medium lights?

Seems pretty pricey for light gauge strings. You can do better at juststrings.

Add in the shipping costs and it's not a great deal. If you don't know much about strings, it's time to experiment (and read the forums). Some work better for bluegrass, some for jazz, and it depends on the mandolin (f hole or round hole) and especially the playing style. Some Chinese equipment is fine; I would not buy 5 sets of Chinese strings until I tried them though. If you don't know much, again, read the forums and you can get some info -- not necessarily exactly what you want, but some info about the RELATIVE sounds that different string types give, even though, again, it will depend on your mando, your pick, and your style!
Where did you see a price? All I saw as a bid up to $8.99. Anyhoo, I got 5 sets of J75's from Elderly the other day for $22.50. Best deal that I could find that day, but I'm not an Ebay guy.

"Alice" is a Chinese brand, and I have never seen a Chinese-made string worth paying money for. Alice does have nice flatpicks though.
