Default A quick clean, and loosening up tight tuners?

Just picked up an old german bowlback. It's in pretty rough shape, but has a nice sound. I plan on re-stringing it soon, and the tuners are super tight...some of them I can barely turn with all my might. Can I use a regular lube for metals to loosen them up?

Also, whats a quick, safe way to just clean up the wood, etc? It's not an expensive piece, so I don't really need cleaning supplies specific for instruments.

    I appreciate any help! thanks
