Ah, yes, Calace Mandolira for sure. it looks like the bowl is in good shape but there are usually (but not always) some finials(?) ending off the two horns and a metal piece running between the horns for reinforcement. Similar to this one.

It may be fine. I looked at a few of these with a picture search online and the Calace ones may not have that supporting bar.

think this may have had them
as there are holes were they should have been
it amazes me how things like this disappear
    of the instrument

i know nothing about musical instruments
but i collect antique penny arcade
and i bought a southlands speedway
    slot car machine
    like a big pinball
    and the cars were missing
someone had opened the machine up and taken the cars
    why i ask

    sorry jim rabbiting on

yep i looked it up on the net and
looks like one sold for $7000
i dont know when that was
    maybe before the money drout
    were all having

the actual body of the mandolin is in excellent condition for its age
the inside is lined with what looks like old wall paper
    and very very dusty
so its been sitting some were for a longtime
    and not been used
hence the condition ,,what would you think the body is made of

looks like beech or maybe box wood

The wood of the bowl would have been either maple or rosewood. These are usually bought more by collectors than musicians.
