Hello Kevin, this is Malcolm Robertson calling in from Northern California - I checked and you can buy Ali's tune book from Footstompin' here: http://www.footstompin.com/products/...f_coigach_book

I think I'll order one to infiltrate a few tunes into the Irish sessions here!

Malcolm, you'll enjoy the tunes and especially the wee stories that go with them and the insight into ABM's ilfe and playing. it is so much more than just a book of tunes. I have certainly been enjoying the tunes since I got the book last Friday.

Hey, Malcolm, so that's where you are! Hadn't seen you for ages! Hope you're enjoying the sunshine, tunes and fine wines - a good move if you ask me! Still playing that lovely Sobell of yours? That was a nice one. All the best, Kevin

Hi Kevin, sorry I've been so bad a keeping in touch. We've been out here nearly 3 years now. Can't fault the weather (or the wines)! I am playing the Sobell mandolin quite a bit, an I'm also playing whistle a lot more now. I finally got some 'proper' whistles and there is no comparison with the cheapie ones.
Did you know I also have a Sobell octave mandolin? I actually got that one first, about a year before the small one, very similar if not identical woods so the two of them together look like father and son. It's just been attended to by Paul Hostetter as the wood had settled a bit differently in the drier climate here. It now plays as well as it did when new, and sounds great!
I also got myself a tenor banjo, a 1927 Lange Challenger which is currently with Paul for some restoration work. I keep an eye out for National tenor guitars after having to be prised off your one in Sandy Bells, but they are quite rare and getting expensive.
I'll send you pics of the banjo when I get it back.

Cheers the noo; say a big hello to Christine!

I like marches too. I play only one : McLean of Pennycross, from Sean Keane version.

Great stuff Kevin, we are still murdering Ron Raines Reel by the "Coigachmeister"! I'll try and get them to do another one. Expensive but a Glidecam HD2000 is your answer for steady panning........http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/index...IDECAM-HD-2000
