Only got thru first two songs (at work), both with Levon on mandolin, both outstanding.

As I understand it, Levon held Richard in high regard as a drummer as well (and even higher regard as a vocalist).

Wow. All-time great. Thanks for that!
I love that mando intro in Rag Mama Rag, but I am just nuts about that tune in general. It became a favorite to play guitar (pre mando) along with. One day, I did just that in front of a good buddy and I can still hear him say "it didn't need none of that". HUGE lesson for me.

SOMEDAY I'm going to make it up to one of Levon's Midnight Rambles :-)
Man, I'm glad you posted this. Garth Hudson is a genius.

There appear to be a few additional players besides the original members. Names anyone?

This video is from when the Band first reunited - I had the great luck to see them at the Chance in Poughkeepsie (go ahead and laugh about Pok, but it's got about the closest theater to Woodstock, and we used to score some GREAT shows!)... I've been to a lot of concerts, and some great ones... that one may still be the top of the heap!
Still digging, I think the second drummer is Terry Cagle, Levon's nephew... and I think the bassist in Ron Eoff of the Cate Bros band...
This is a great video, thanks for posting it!
Ummmmm, is that a capo at the first fret on that first song?!?!?

Remember to grin while you pick, it throws folks off!
I'm kinda ticked at myself for giving up on the Band after the Last Waltz, for so-ooo many reasons....
I mean, I remember not going to a club gig in Oakland in the 80's because tickets were 10 bucks and there was no Robbie...
Scheech, what an idiot...

I don't know Spruce........I gave it a chance......I saw what I recall was the first reunion tour at the Paramount Theater in Oakland. And having seen them back in the early days at Winterland, then with Dylan a few times, in duo shows with the Grateful Dead in Palo Alto, & I was even at The Last waltz, I came away underwhelmed. The tunes were still great, but it just was hard for me not to compare with the original Band in it's glory days. Kind of like seeing The Dead, or Further, not that it wouldn't be a great show, but without Jerry it is just different.
