    Default Sweet Georgia Peach

I had the chance to play with some guys I was in a band with in the late 70's the other night. It was the first time I've tried to play rock electric bass since then. It was a little humbling, but really went pretty well for not having played those songs for so long.
We got to talking about songs we used to do & we remembered the title of one, but not the band or really much else about it. The title is "Sweet Georgia Peach", it was by a southern rock band and is about two particular parts of the female anatomy "hanging there, like a sweet Georgia peach." Does it ring a bell for anyone? I've done some searches, but came up with too many sweet Georgia peach references to sort through. Most likely it is out of print, but I would like to remember the name of the band.
    Thanks,

    (ronnie vanzant -- steve gaines)

"Well, you can see her walkin down on peachtree street
She got high-heeled shoes and a dot on her cheek
Shes lookin good, shes headed downtown
    Aint got no money, honey
    She knows her way around
I think shes cute, think shes cute as she can be
Talkin about a funny talkin, honk-tonking georgia peach

    Well these georgia peaches
Son they know their way around
They can take your money, son before you get sight of town
Well they talk a little funny, but they look so fine
Nine out of ten of them gonna sell you a dime
I think theyre cute, think theyre cute as they can be
Talkin about a funny talkin, honk-tonking georgia peach

    Well, peaches, peaches
    Love them georgia peaches
    Well, peaches, peaches
    Love them georgia peaches

    Well them georgia peaches
    Sure do got the style
Theyll steal your heart with a southern smile
Well they talk a little funny, but they look so fine
The older they get, I swear its like good wine
I think theyre cute, think theyre cute as they can be
Talkin about a funny talkin, honk-tonking georgia peach
Talkin about a funny talkin, honk-tonking georgia peach

I just seem to fall in love with the wrong things"

Thanks, John, but that's not the one, we were way into Skynyrd and would have known that. It was one of those more obscure Southern Rock bands that got played a few times on FM but never had anything close to a hit. The singer and I got into them and got the other guys to go along for this one song.
The tag line of the chorus was:
    .....................hanging there,
    like a SWEET.....Georgia Peach,

I'm not too surprised that no one remembers it.

The Allman Brothers had an album called " Eat A Peach" , the band was not nearly as well known as the Allman Brothers. Probably more the level of Grinderswitch, Stillwater.

It just popped into my head, Morningstar is the name of the band. Anyone else ever heard of them?

The name of the band was Morningstar from KC. It just aint fair the way you're hangin' there like a sweet Georgia peach I got a line on you but my ten foot pole won't reach, Google Morningstar and you should find the web page, and if you find the CD for sale or where I can get a copy message me back here please. The best lead I've found is that it was reproduced in 1998 in Japan in a limited run.
