I am new to Albuquerque and am looking for some mandolin/guitar/other musicians in the mediocre to okay range to play a variety of styles. I play mandolin/mandola and some guitar. I really love the sound of twin mandolins, or mandolin/mandola duets. I play some traditional folk music, some classical music and then some of the slower bluegrass tunes. I can read music fairly well if it's not too complex. I have played for many years off and on around my children's growing up, but have never had the time to get past a certain plateau. Anyway, please let me know if you're in the area and interested in getting together for fun. Daniel

    Welcome to Albuquerque Daniel...

I am a newbie mando player currently involved in a local band, but not yet plugged into the bluegrass scene around here. I think this is probably the best place to start:

    SouthWest Pickers

My own background comes from years of playing in Punk rock bands in Albuquerque, and an currently involved in a experimental noise guitar duo, in addition to mando playing in the acoustic based Rivet Gang. I have been playing mando for little over a year, and have much to learn.

To be honest, between my 2 young children, construction at home and playing in 2 bands, time is pretty short. One more musical project in my life and I think my wife will be pushing my gear and I right out the front door. But that is not to say I wouldnt be interested in meeting up sometime.

The Rivet Gang is playing at Oniell's Pub on Central Ave this Sunday and I have temporarily placed a couple of mp3's out there, if perhaps this weird-quirky band is your cup of tea...

    Scar on Her Cheek

    Gusty Winds

    Spider and I

    Gold to Blue

please note all the "good mando playing" on these tracks is a guy who is on a break from the band right now. I am desperately trying to fill those shoes on my own.
