Default Strings for Saga E-Mando? Tried anything different?

Broke my A and E tonight so I'm weighing string options for my Saga Electric. I had those strings on and off the mandolin about 4 times during construction, so I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did.
Emando.com lists their standard gauge as .040,.026,.015 and .011. I don't know what came with the Saga as they came in one unmarked envelope.

What are people out there using on their electrics? Heavier? Lighter?
I found the E string a bit quiet and was thinking of upping the weight of that string a bit.
Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

I am waiting for my saga to finish curing but I bought some D'Addario J67 Nickel Strings for it, a friend has a Moongazer kit emando and those are the strings he uses, they have a nice bright sound
    their measurements are: .011, .014, .025, .039.

Haven't tried anything on mine beyond the ones that came with it, but I think I'd go heavier, too.

    d'Addario JS74 are Stainless... would those work? (Gauges: 11, 14, 26, 40...)

I like the Fender nickel plated steel w/ball ends.(11 16 26 40)The E string is quiet because of the stock pickup that is designed for guitar. You could try a mandolin pickup.Check out Almuse.com for pickups.

I like light strings and use D'Addario ball end steel electric guitar strings that you can buy as singles. I use .010, .014, .024 and .038. The problem is that you might not have the ability to adjust the saddle if you deviate too far. You can cheat a little by adjusting the action and or shimming the neck but then you get in to a whole different can of worms.
