This isn't really mandolin related, but I thought I'd share it with the community. #My oldest son was awarded his Eagle Scout rank Saturday. #Needless to say, I'm one proud dad!

congrats! once an eagle, always an eagle! what was his project?
He built 4 bookshelves for an elementary school library.
That's awesome. I made it to Life Scout and dropped out (I wish I could do that over). I commend him for sticking with it and going the distance. It's a lot of dedication and perserverance.

Congrats KayBee! It's cool to see your kids doing things like that. I had a hard time containing my excitement watching mine play soccer at age 6 this fall... You should have made him build you a mando for his project:p
That is great news KayBee,Congratulations to your son, and to make this thread mando related he could put a pic of Harlan 1 & 2 in the bookcases.
well done,
Stanley
Great Granpas are just Antique little boys.

Sadly, I was kicked out of the cub scouts just for nibbling on a brownie! Such injustice.
Now that he is into woodworking, your son should build some F-5s for poor MAS sufferers! There should be a "Luthiery" merit badge!
Bookshelves for a school--he deserves SAINTHOOD for that one--LOTS of good karma--you had one HECK of a good kid!![]()

Congrats!!! I'm currently Life, working on my Eagle. While we're recognizing young people's accomplishements...my sister got accepted in to New York University in NYC today. It's one of the toughest, most competetitive schools to get into in America. I'm really proud of her!!

Kent, that's awesome! I know you're proud -- and you should be! Tell your son that we're proud of him too.
Mando Johnny you made me choke on my Mountain Dew with the nibbling Brownie remark! LOL!Originally Posted by (jflynnstl @ Dec. 13 2004, 15:42)
Kent you should be proud to have a good boy in this day and age when there are so many BAD boys running around! Also most people don't know but being a Eagle Scout gives a rep that follows you into adulthood. It looks really good on resumes because it shows tenacity and drive! Employers are really impressed!
Congrats to you and to him. I was Eagle, Order of the Arrow. Somewhere I recall reading that some significant number of American presidents had been Eagle. Don't know if that's true, but it sure is a good thing to achieve.
And Brett, keep at it, and congrats to your sister. I went to law school at NYU. It's a great place to go to school. Living in the Village is still a lot of fun, even though it has changed much in recent years. I won't tell you about the wild adventures I (and many others) have had in the NYU library, which has lots of little private study rooms <g> (alas, such things are not worthy of an Eagle Scout).

Congratulations.
Just curious, how close was it. #Both my sons procrastinated and got the final signature on their project reports 28 and 4 hours before their 18th birthdays.
<Insert witty saying here>
He just turned 15 in September. He has served as Troop SPL twice, and is very active in the Order of the Arrow (got his Brotherhood this summer). He's a great kid.
