    Default Girouard #16

Here is my latest build, sitka top red maple back sides and neck. Grover tuners, James tailpiece, medium guitar/banjo frets on an ebony fretboard, Ivroid/black/ivroid binding throughout with a spirit varnish to finish it off. This one was voiced for a strong mid range and trebble.

Here are a few quick mp3's. Still learning how to use the recording equipment! Recorded with a Josephson C-660 into a Tascam DR-100MKII, then I brought the audio volume up in Audacity. No effects added. I'll try to get a few more up in the next day or so.

Presumably this mandolin is already spoken for? If not, let me know?
    Thanks for your support?

Stunning work! Both on the mandolin itself, and on your playing. GREAT sounding instrument.
Keep up the fabulous work. You will only make us increase our MAS, and deplete our banks' savings accounts.
That and our complexion will turn dark green due to our envy of your ability to build a wonderful instrument.

Just when you thought you had seen the last of this one, here it is again. I was unhappy with the sound of it and decided that it wasn't to my expectations. Lauri stripped it down and I reworked the graduations on it. The new ones are closely based on the 'Ms Griffith' Loar and it is extremely responsive in the midrange and treble and has a really clean pronounced bass. We finished it with an thin and flexible spar varnish that is incredibly durable. We plan on some sound clips later this weekend.

Max, that is a stunning mandolin!
There are only two things preventing a serious flair-up of my MAS thanks to this magnificent mandolin:
    * It has a flat board, and
    * I absolutely love my Girouard AOH! ( Autumn is a wonderful vaccine against MAS )

Max, I'm not at all sure if this is possible, but that mandolin might sound even better than it looks!

Wow Max, I just listened to the first set of clip and thought they sounded great. Then I listened to the second set and it sounds really great. I would guess it is a gamble stripping it and regradind, but I think it paid off big time!

Nice looking instrument, Max, and you improved the sound a lot. I wish I had the skills to do that. I've got a couple that need it.
