Thanks for the link. I caught about 45 minutes, what a great show!

Maybe the best show so far. The Avett Brothers knocked me out. Chris has brought in really hip music and really expanded my musical horizons. The house band was astonishing on every instrument.
2 things I noticed.
1. Chris has way more pick sticking out than I do. There must be very little of the pick between his thumb and first finger. Going to have to try that.
2. The Lloyd Loar mandolin (birthday today) is looking nicely distressed. Lots of mic dings around the treble ff hole and some nice wear back by the tailpiece where his arm rests. Looks like it's being played hard.

Noticed that too, the pick sticking out so far; and what kind of pick was that white thing? He had a big Blue Chip stuck in his guitar.
Yeah, I was wondering about the pick grip too. Do you get better tone with that much pick exposed and able to pivot more? I'm sure I'd be dropping my pick constantly! It also seems like the pick attack would be less precise, but precision (at speed) is Chris' hallmark. Go figure.
Enough pick obsession. The show is renewed for a full 26 episodes for next season. Take that WGTE, Toledo. Maybe you shouldn't have dropped the show.
Couldn't be happier to hear they're renewed for 26 shows next seasion.
Chris is doing a great job.
(I noticed the pick grip immediately too...)
I had the immense pleasure of seeing Stuart Duncan play fiddle for Del McCoury last month. What a treat!
Chris turned out to be a winner for replacing Garrison. While I do miss some of the corny humor Garrison was famous for and of course Lake Woebegone I really love that they focus on the music more now.
Really happy to hear they will be back next year.
