Default Gypsy's decorative sound hole carving

The photos show the tops/sound holes of two teardrop mandolins we are working on. Each carving is done by hand and directly on/in the top, not an insert. Each one took about 35 hours to get them to this point, they are custom, no two will be the same. We are looking forward to doing more of these.

Very nice! Will they be reinforced or backed with something?

They are quite strong as they are, I am however considering a cloth backing.

I particularly like the hearts and fleur de leis design. Great work!

Quite beautiful, Walt and kudos to Astrid. You are both real artists!!

That also solves the pick-falling-into-the-soundhole problem.

Astrid is a fine artist, with both a chisel and brush!

Hope you don't mind, but that celtic knot w/ the black background makes a stunning wallpaper.

    Thanks!
