    A friend was telling me about this comando site that I thought I had seen here somewhere. He said you could sign up and they will send a tune a week. Is that still available?

    They don't send a tune per week, it's a listserv group.

    But we do have a "Tune of the Week". Last year it was Prof. John Bird posting the tunes.
    This year Seth Austen is doing them........all are available as Tabledit files, and folks discuss
    it for a week. One year it was just Monroe tunes, another all tunes by the next generation,
    of BGers, last year was a mixture of tunes from different cultures, etc. So they don't send
    you a tune, but you do get either individual emails or I get CoMando in a daily digest. We discuss anything mandolin and music related........... but not strictly.......and hardly strictly Bluegrass.

    Oh Yeah, I forgot about that part. I guess that it seems to me like something that a member offers and not a function of the group itself.

    But how on earth do you join it - it all seems so complex, and like it's held together by bits of string with tin foil strips all over the place?

    I guess I shouldn't have stopped being on the list. Now I'm not allowed back.

    It did the same thing to me when I tried, and I had never been subscribed before. I think it's busted.

    I tried joining that group several years ago but couldn't figure it out. Tried again last night and went thru without a hitch.

    Are you sure there wasn't a blue line at the top that said "You are not allowed to subscribe to the COMANDO list. Contact the list owner () for more information."? That's still all I get. Maybe it's private and they don't want to encourage riff raff

    No, I can see all the posts and just logged in. I scanned thru a few weeks of posts and didn't see anything that wasn't posted on here. What am I missing?

    I can see all that stuff too, but it has this "subscribe" function, that's what doesn't work. I may be wrong, but it looks like although you can read it, you can't contribute unless you subscribe.

    I got an email that said this and I clicked the link.

    ```````````````````````````````````````
    Your command:
    SUBSCRIBE COMANDO Greg_Tsam WITH NOMIME DIGEST
    requires confirmation. To confirm the execution of your command, simply
    click on the following link:
    Ok, I went back and tried the above command and it gave me
    So I guess I was wrong when I thought clicking the link was my confirmation even though it said so.
    I'm confused.
    I'd suggest just doing the facebook thing. It's easier. I think you'll still have to be approved. It's a wonderful group of folks. Now that it's migrated to facebook it's a more "talky" thing. There's a lot of people who do the cafe and don't do comando. And vice versa. Some familiar faces here do both. It's all a good thing.
