Have you considered a Bailey Mandolin Strap? I got one after trying several other straps and love mine. It is all leather with a flat weave, that holds to my shoulder and looks great. I have no connection to the company, except being a satisfied customer. Google "Bailey Mandolin Straps" for pics and pricing

I like a real thin strap..no bigger than a sipping straw. Alot of these straps look like they weigh more than the mando itself. Just my preference I guess. If some one could make me one similiar to the Roo strap out of rawhide that would be great too. BTW..I know the Bailey straps are fine quailty as are alot others I just dont see something that interests me.

Scotti, Your friend Alan N here on the cafe furnished me with a nice thin kangaroo strap, doesn`t he still make or have some? I love mine and have gotten a lot of nice comments on the way it looks from other pickers, I always thought Alan made them and I have mentioned him to some folks that seemed interested in buying one...I don`t know if they ever did buy any though....

Good luck in finding what you are looking for, shouldn`t be too hard to find one....

Try Lakota, the softest and nicest straps I have seen. See my sig line for the link.

I have a braided roo strap about the size of a pencil but I can't remember where I bought it online. *grr.

Scotti - If you can't find a decent 'Roo' strap, have a look at the Gibson strap. They're very thin but comfortable & available from Janet Davis Music for $24.00 US. I use one on my Weber "Fern" & it's as good as any strap i've ever used,

Stupid question... on these straps... what surface is on your shoulder? Not the rat tail right?

The braided section of the Gibson strap is only the last 8" or so before the loop. The rest is thin, flat leather,a neat & very useable strap,
