Aged blackface with a little dash of metallic blue peeking from the the center. Lacquer was French Polished with black tinted shellac, buffed with 0000 steel wool, then waxed. The result gives the look and feel of a really well cared-for vintage instrument.
A little poetic lighting -
And by the glow of the Christmas tree -
Back and sides are Curly Claro Walnut with a dark traditional 'burst. Also buffed with steel wool and waxed for a timeless sheen.
Top is Port Orford Cedar carved fairly thin with 4 degree neck angle. These traits, when combined with the layer of lacquer, resulted in a tone that is powerful and very balanced. Somewhere between her Red Spruce and Sitka Spruce siblings.
