Thread: De Meglio type bridge

  1. #1

    Default De Meglio type bridge

Does anyone know how the brass wire/rod is fitted to the bridge. Are the ends recessed slightly and the wire sprung? Is there a narrow trough for the wire?

Here are some shots from my 1901 style 1A. I can take a closer look at the actual instrument this evening. I think the brass rod merely sits in the trough of the bridge, held down by string tension.

Thanks for that Jim.I'm a little late in replying. The only reason I asked is because having made a new De Meglio style bridge, I dicovered that on the first strings there is a slight vibration/rattling noise. Any suggestions, it be because one end may not be seated correctly. Will investigate further.
