Re: Marla Fibish and Jimmy Crowley: West Coast Tour Now Happenin
I was at the Julie's show last night in Alameda and they sounded great. If you love that mandolin/CBOM combo, you'll love this. Jimmie is a tasteful accompanist--more crosspicking and lines than thrashing and bashing--and you can't beat Marla on the jigs and reels and polkas and hornpipes and . . . Lovely.
And thanks to Ed for loaning one of his mandos to Jimmie C., too.
Just one guy's opinion

Does anyone know where I can get the music/tab for the Parting that Marla plays on the video at her website?

Re: Marla Fibish and Jimmy Crowley: West Coast Tour Now Happenin
Montana -- you can always contact Marla to see if she has it.
Jimmy arrived in town with a nice old Gibson A4 that he apparently just acquired, but he's having some fretwork done on it by Lewis Santer, and I offered to loan him my old A4 for the rest of the tour so that Lewis can do the work. I also loaned Jimmy my Dell'Arte 'cello, which he used on the "Morning Star" CD. But most of the time he's playing a lovely OM that looks to me to be a Foley.
I echo Paul K's comment that Jimmy is a very tasteful accompanist: my eyes were glued on his backup playing all night, trying to steal ideas.
They did a very nice mix of songs and tunes (the CD is all-instrumental). Jimmy's a great singer (as is Marla). Catch them if you get a chance.
