Well, gosh. I have enjoyed Nile's inquisition into the various song topics... Actually, we've seen a lot of them from time to time: Sailor Songs, Break-up Songs, Holiday Songs, Worst Songs, Blues Songs, Truck-drivin' Songs, and so forth...

Now... It would be my guess that 90 percent of songs are about love... So... I'll be the brave sole to bring it up...

What is the ultimate "Love Song"?

    (just curious...)

Folks! (I hope you respond because I'm real shy about starting a topic, cuzz I think that no one will respond...)

    Thanks.

This is one of those questions that gals use to re-affirm that guys are insensitive clods, like "Do you know what day it is?" The answer "Tuesday" or "The 23rd of November" is incorrect. As you vainly rack your brain for some obscure romantic significance attached to the day, you have already lost the game. When you give the wrong answer, or have no answer, one of which is inevitable, you are re-affirmed as an insensitive clod, which was the purpose of the game to begin with. You can't win.

When a gal says, "What is your favorite love song," a guy hears, "Wanna play a game that you can't win, but will give us gals a chance to have a good laugh at your expense?" What a deal!

BTW, my favorite love song is "Louie, Louie."

I'll answer a slightly different question. #My favorite love song that I can actually play on the mandolin is "Always".

Hah! Dat burrnitt! Can't pull the wool over your eyes!

Whoa! The information I'm aquiring here is quite significant!

Does anyone disagree that the majority of songs are love songs? Humph.

I would never "have a laugh" at your expense. Quite frankly, I don't see it as "a game."

And "Louie, Louie" is a favorite love song of mine too...

Now I'm mad. I'm sorry that I brought up the subject. It was not intended to... "trap" anyone. It was a legitimate question... So there.

Oops. I just deleted my post (about the Dave Clark Five) because I was intimidated. Great song though, eh? You know it?

    "It's right...that I should care about you...
Try to make you happy...when you're blue...
It's right, it's right, to feel the way I do...
    Because, because.... I love you."

    Man, I love that song.

Hey Brandon..! - If you're a KW "fan" , how 'bout "I'm no Stranger to the Rain"...!? - I'm not sure about the "love song" qualification but THAT'S a mighty powerful song - RIP KW.

Dave Mathews "Lover Lay Down" if for no other reason than an exchange I overheard between Dave and a fan at a show (a long time ago, when he played small southern towns) regarding the song. Unfortunately, if I were to relate the exchange I'd probably get censored. So, sorry for the teaser, but its still a great song. Second place, "Closer" by Trent Reznor.

duuuude, I couldn't agree with you more!

However, when talking to my girlfriend (see above posts) My personal favorite is "Lay Lady Lay" - Bob Dylan.

If I want things to be really nice I'll put on Jerry doing "How Sweet It Is." Always does the trick.

I vote for Guy Clark's "Stuff That Works". At least, that's what I vote for this week.

On louie louie, how do the lyrics go?
    "A fine little girl
    waits for me
    up on a hill
    for my knee"...?
    Anyways, i think some of the good love songs are;
Anything from the "Full Monty Sound Track"
Why dont we get drunk and screw- Jimmy Buffett
    Crush- DMB
    Jude- Beatles

Hah! Hahahahahhh! Hardy-har-har! You folks are funny! (Now if I only knew if you were serious or not!)

Oh well... About those lyrics... I'm not sure either. But I think it's:

A fine girl, who dated me
I snatched a sip of her hot tea
I burned my lips, what a bone
I wondered when I'm gonna make it home.

"Kick the Stones"- Chris Whitley. Or maybe that's a Lust song.
