Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.
Looks like the string spacing at the bridge is wider than the diameter of the biscuit! Pete must've added a custom bridge piece.

The normal end-pin jack wouldn't fit, so Pete put in a jack right below it, elegantly recessed.
I lowered the action today (lower than in the photos) -- it was a piece of cake, and I didn't have to loosen the strings to do it.![]()
