Default New Faculty at Berklee Fall 2011 (Mandolin content!)

Happy to announce the expansion of the string department at Berklee with the addition of these great artists/teachers:

Jason Anick, violin/mandolin (John Jorgenson Quintet)
    Simon Shaheen, violin
Julianne Lee, violin (Boston Symphony Orchestra)
Owen Young, cello (Boston Symphony Orchestra)
Wes Corbett, banjo (Joy Kills Sorrow)

Particularly relevant for the mandolin world is Jason Anick, a young lion on both mandolin and violin.

I saw Homer & Jethro once. This mandolin therapy isn't helping me get over it.

I had the chance to run sound for the John Jorgenson Quintet with Jason a couple of years ago and was very impressed! It's great to see that he is a mandolin player also.

I was accepted to Berklee straight out of high school, it was the only college I applied to, but was unable to attend for financial reasons. I regret it almost daily. What could have been! Of course has I gone it was have been as a guitar player, I don't think mandolin was an option in the 80's.

True, Chip, mandolin at Berklee started in 2004. Jason is quite a wizard, and I am so happy that he'll be at Berklee...

I'm a big fan of Jason's mandolin playing. Maybe now he can afford to upgrade his Saga kit although he gets a heck of a sound out of it, so why bother?

Great news, John! Good to hear of the additions, and yeah, Jason is a great player. We're trying to hook up with him with a show down here in Connecticut. Nice to see the classical players in there as well; gotta keep those chops up to high standards if you want to get anywhere!

Great to hear that Jason's teaching at Berklee. Between John, Matt Glaser and now Jason, the school has its own in-house Hot Club of Paris.

And I know just the place they should record their first album!
