    Default Grey Fox, Thile

A couple of good folks have posted great stuff from Grey Fox 2011 on Youtube.

There's lots of Chris Thile with Michael Daves, which is fantastic. But this is my favorite w/Tim O'Brien. Great music.

I've never been to Grey Fox, but I guess I'll save some money and vacation time & go next year. It looks great.

Nice. And here's a version of Jerusalem's Ridge from the same session (I assume):

A classic Grey Fox moment! Tim O'Brien joining Chris Thile on the Masters Stage was a surprise, as was Michael Daves joining Chris there too. The duet on Jerusalem Ridge was one of many highlights of the festival for me.

The Thile-Daves set on the main stage was... grasping at a description... the best set of a VERY good festival... Enough so that I immediately bought their CD. Which, if you haven't heard it... is awesome!
Rough cut, old-time bluegrass. Lots of edges. And for the main stage set, you could tell that both Thile and Daves were having a blast. I didn't try to get to the masters tent, I knew that it would be overwhelmingly crowded :-)

Those clips would be great except for two things, the sound and the video work.

Nothing harsh, just the audio sounds like its in a can and the camera jumps around.

It was recorded live at a festival, probably with somebody's camera phone. Still better than some of the stuff I've seen and tried to hear on YouTube. You can only expect so much from bootleg.
