Question: #What type of neck joint is an old "F" style Loar? #Next, is this the same for the one off Griffith A5? #Last: #The older styled A5-L's, (my 1998), the ones with a more narrow and pronounced neck/body region...what type of neck joint were they made with? #The newer A5-L's have a larger neck/body connection to be more "F" in tone/style and a dove tail neck joint, dy.

Edit: I just did a recheck on that neck/body connection I make reference to above: Over at Elderly the photos really help to understand what I see...much like the old post from before, can't recall who was discussing the A5-L's and their body shapes...anyhow, mine is the older type of body shape, like the original Girffith A5, but I don't know what type of neck joint. Later, dy.

All of the Loar era instruments have a compound dovetail joint..be it F5 A5 F2 or A1

Are you wondering if yours has a bolt-on neck? If so, it's easy enough to shine a flashlight into your f-holes and look up inside. On my old Webers, I could always see the bolt connection. Frank

Thanks f5--so compound dove tail is the way to discribe the Loar-era neck joints, and it appears also, newer A5-L's. Is this to mean that my 98 A5-L is not a dove tail? I have what type then, mortise/tenon? Thanks for your time and help on this, dy.

tele...I really know nothing about the newer joints..I'm familiar with the first F5L's and the latest F's (fern, master model)..no idea about anything between and especially the A5 stuff
