I know someone who may be selling their Tucker F model (label says 81F or F81, I forget). It was made in the mid 90's I believe. It is in very good shape. What would such an animal go for? What do I need to find out about the mandolin to determine the current value? Serial number? Year? Model?

Generally speaking, a musical instrument is worth what you are willing to spend, based on acoustics, playability and collectiblity. (how much is it worth to you)

One was offered in the classifieds for $6,900 in September, reduced to $6,800 in October and still is listed.

i would say in the $6,000 range ($5500-$6500), just depending on the specific instrument. that Tucker tone that Wayne Benson got on the Bluegrass 95/96 series is just awesome. very distinct tone, dark, fat and woody.

Thanks, everyone. I'm going to talk to the Tucker owner on Tuesday and feel him out for real. He wants one of my Calton guitar cases and a Collings F here in town. I'll keep you all posted.

I do have a Sim Daley coming in 5 or so months and just bought a killer little A9 so the odds of me getting it are not high unless I get a great deal.
