The editor of The Old-Time Herald, a magazine devoted to Old-Time Music has offered to share a feature article from their current issue with us and we've agreed. The article, That Old-Time Mandolin, is a comprehensive look at the mandolin's use in old-time music and includes interviews and quotes from Kenny Hall, Clyde Curley, Cary Lung, Curtis Buckhannon, Adam Tanner of The Twilite Broadcasters, Carl Jones, Caleb Klauder of The Foghorn Trio, Randy Johnson The Northside Southpaws, Dennis Pash of Ragtime Skedaddlers and much more.
The author is Cary Fagan, a Canadian writer some of you may be familiar with from his terrific book about a bluegrass mandolin player, Valentine's Fall, that we covered back in 2009 when it was published. He recently published another music related book entitled Banjo of Destiny.
Re: Full mandolin article from The Old-Time Herald
Thanks for this article Scott. I think I can safely say that we are getting the best information and most interesting discussions, articles and interviews about the topic of mandolin building, playing, history and listening that there is out there.
